Drawing 1 obscures the news and Drawing 2 peels away. Next to these on the four shelves is a still life of collaged cutouts, pottery vases painted with black ink or marked with charcoal and amongst these a variety of charred fruits. This space, these teal walls, this collaborative exhibition brings about these drawings and these four crowded shelves.Imagine less here or imagine more.
Traditionally used to provide lighters for a Victorian gentleman’s pipe, spill vases stood by the hearth or on the mantelpiece if they were appealing enough. The baked fruits, once unbaked have travelled far and are interspersed amongst the vases along with spills, volcanic rocks from Mount Fuji and Mount Etna, and a piece of coal.
